UN - ECOSOC GRANTS CONSULTATIVE STATUS To “The Foundation for Dialogue among Civilizations” (FDC)

FDC is pleased to announce that UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) at its Substantive Session of July 2013 in Geneva, Switzerland, adopted the recommendation of the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to grant Special Consultative Status to the “Foundation for the “Dialogue among Civilizations” (FDC).

The special consultative status enables FDC to actively engage with ECOSOC and its subsidiary bodies, as well as with the United Nations Secretariat, programmes, funds and agencies in a number of ways. This status enables FDC to participate in the work of the Council, including opportunities to consult with Member States and the United Nations system at large, and it allows FDC be informed about the provisional agenda of the Economic and Social Council. Finally, FDC will have the possibility to attend UN events, conferences and activities and to submit written statements relevant to the work of the Council on business and gender, make oral presentations at ECOSOC and consult with ECOSOC and its subsidiary bodies. FDC will be able to organize and attend parallel events that take place during the sessions of UN General Assembly and Human Rights Council.

“The new statues mark a significant opportunity for FDC to share our knowledge and experience. We are grateful for this recognition of the substantive contributions we can make.”  “FDC looks forward to working with the Council and other UN related bodies in the coming years. We welcome this opportunity to share FDC’s insights about effective ways for promoting peace through dialogue and understanding among different cultural and civilizational affiliations”.
